Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in Therapeutic Recreation or related field OR Bachelor’s degree in unrelated field with a minimum of 4 years-experience in similar role. QP status. Master’s degree preferred. Excellent communication skills (written and oral); strong organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. The Activities Coordinator must demonstrate a positive, professional appearance and attitude, sensitivity to participants’ issues and feelings, and excellent communication skills.
Summary: The Contract Activities Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating, and conducting activities programming for adults with disabilities in a Community Rehabilitation Program.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- The Activities Specialist will develop groups and programs in consideration of the needs, abilities, and interests of OE program participants.
- Develop and provide a variety of activity formats and topics including small group, one on one, and large group on life skills; employment; advocacy; community; arts; etc.
- Research new ideas for programs and activities, taking into consideration participants’ suggestions.
- Initiating and planning the monthly calendar in conjunction with the program management as well as training and coaching direct service staff to initiate daily programs and activities.
