History of OE
OE Enterprises, Inc. has a rich history that spans over four decades, beginning in the Orange County area of North Carolina. The company was originally incorporated under the name Orange Industries on November 19, 1981. It operated as a public non-profit agency affiliated with the OPC Mental Health Center, primarily serving individuals with disabilities in the Orange County community.
After several years of operation, Orange Industries underwent a significant transformation. On July 1, 1987, it transitioned into a private non-profit agency and changed its name to Orange Enterprises, Inc. This change gave the organization more autonomy and flexibility in its operations and decision-making processes.
In October 2003, Orange Enterprises expanded its reach by establishing a federal set-aside custodial operation in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. This marked the beginning of the company’s expansion beyond the Orange County area. Over time, OE Enterprises continued establishing additional sites across the state and South Carolina to provide custodial services.
The company’s growth and diversification continued in subsequent years. On July 1, 2005, Orange Enterprises expanded its services to include vocational training for individuals with disabilities in Alamance and Caswell counties. Alongside this expansion, the organization decided to change its name to OE Enterprises, reflecting its broader scope of operations and services.
OE Enterprises continued to expand its vocational services to new counties in North Carolina. In 2009, the organization extended its reach to Durham County, followed by Rockingham County in 2010, Guilford County in 2011, and Randolph County in 2020. These expansions allowed OE Enterprises to serve a larger population of individuals with disabilities, providing them with valuable vocational opportunities and support.
Throughout its history, OE Enterprises has played a vital role in the North Carolina community, offering employment and vocational training to individuals with disabilities in various counties. By providing these services, the company has contributed to the empowerment, inclusion, and independence of people with disabilities, helping them lead fulfilling lives and achieve their potential.
